ENGLISH IN THE GLOBALIZATION ERA 

Globalization refers to the world changes towards elimination of boundaries especially in science, technology and trade. The geographical boundaries between countries will only have political and security meanings. Globalization era is also called the era of global information and communication.

as leading country in South East Asia, Indonesia has to enter the global community. In that case the use of international languages become a necessity, especially English. A great many students either. From English or non English Department from various colleges and universities have discussed about the good prospect of English in this globalization era. The optimistic discussion and seminar are also oftern held by certain institutions concerning with the importance of the language. 

The term "globalization" itself seems to have a very close relationship with the foreign languages, especially English that has been regarded as both international and scientific English that most of scientific books in our libraries are written in English, and the international air line usually serve the passengers with English. In addition, international conference, meeting or congress also emphasizes the flexible usage or international language; in this case English. Moreover, our government has also propagated the need of mastering English for the citizens with the idea about technology and science transferring.
